Himgiri Zee University held a literature festival named ‘Himgiri Literati’ on 15 April 2018. The event was graced by the presence of Sahitya Academy winner Mangalesh Dabral and a galaxy of authors. Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan welcomed the guests by emphasizing that how Literature is the essential part of the existence of Human Being. He requested students to create new literature to chart a new path of glory for the nation.
Chief Guest Mangalesh Dabral elaborated on the form of poetry from the time of Kabeer till date. He emphasized how literature and poem have become the voice of the oppressed. After the opening ceremony a panel discussion was held on “how hills have contributed in fostering literature’. The discussion was moderated by well known journalist Ms. Jaskiran Chopra, the panel consisted of Mr. Mangalesh Dabral, Mr. Ganesh Saili, Mr. Subhash Taraan, and Mr. Nand Kishor Hatwal.
During the day long festival well known literary figure Mr. Aporva Kala gave tips on creative writing to budding students. While Story telling event featured Bimal Raturi. Well known poet Captain Kunal Uniyal recited his own poems. Students participated in competition ‘Meri Rachna’.
Satirist Ashutosh Ujjwal and Aaditya Navodit made satire on the current political and Social seetings prevalent in the country. The event was attended by Mr. Anterdeep Singh, Chief Finance Officer, Dean and Head of Various departments of University and Teachers.
The event was completed by the contributions of Dr. Narendra Kaushik, Ms. Ankita Uniyal, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Mr. Kailash Kandwal, Ms. Priyanka Goswami, Ms. Akanksha Shrivastava, Mr. Rakesh Arya, Mr. Saifullah Khalid, and Mr. Vikas Chauhan.
