Heli services to start from Oct 4 in Uttarakhand

The Government of India has selected 14 air routes and airline operators for helicopter services under Regional Connectivity Scheme (Udaan). All the private air services will be managed by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh held a meeting regarding ‘Udaan” scheme at Secretariat.

Chief Secretary instructed that in the first phase of helicopter services at Pithoragarh fixed wing helipad and Chinyalisaur, Gauchar, Haldwani and Sahstradhara should start from October 4, 2018. It is to be mentioned that Investors Summit is being held in Uttarakhand on October 4 and 5, 2018.The summit is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash instructed the civil aviation department  to make all preparations on time. The deployment of police and special training of firemen should be ensured. The infrastructure and equipment will be provided by DGCA. For air services, the state government is giving concession on ATF, power and water at concessional rates, free security at airports and facilities of fire services. It was informed in the meeting that a total of 108 police personnel will be deployed at helipads and heliports. Their training in different groups is being done by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Delhi.

The DGCA after field inspection has given its report to MOCA( Minimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude). It was informed that Pithoragarh, Chiyalisaur and Gauchar have airstrips of the state government. These are being developed into helidromes. However, a helidrome at Sahstradhara, Dehradun and helipad at Haldwani are available. Additional secretary R. Rajesh Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting.
