HE Governor Uttarakhand conferring degrees at SRHU

Dateline Dehradun: At the 6th convocation ceremony 644 students of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) were conferred degrees.

Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), the Honorable Governor of Uttarakhand, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Fourteen students received gold medals, one student was honoured with the ‘Swami Rama Best Graduate Award,’ and six scholars were awarded Ph.D. degrees.

During the ceremony, SRHU Chancellor Dr. Vijay Dhasmana extended a warm welcome to Chief Guest Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh, presenting him with flowers, a shawl, and a memento at the Badrinath Temple. Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh urged students to serve the nation and society with dedication, emphasising SRHU’s esteemed position as an institution of repute.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal highlighted the university’s illustrious history, and stressed the importance of education as a means of self-awareness, empowerment, and transformation.

The convocation saw 644 degrees conferred, distributed across various disciplines, including medical sciences, nursing, biosciences, yoga sciences, management studies, and science and technology. Additionally, 21 meritorious students were honored, with special recognition for academic excellence, research contributions, and Swami Rama Best Graduate Award.

Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh commended the enthusiasm of all students and expressed satisfaction in witnessing the rich cultural display during the ceremony. He praised the increasing academic excellence of female students and paid tribute to the brave soldiers through a floral tribute at the Wall of Valor.

The event concluded with the lighting of a lamp in front of a portrait of SRHU founder Dr. Swami Rama, symbolising the pursuit of physical and spiritual goals. Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh lauded the university’s commitment to Swami Rama’s vision and mission, emphasising the institution’s contribution to education and healthcare in Uttarakhand.

Overall, the convocation showcased the academic achievements, cultural diversity, and commitment to service at SRHU, leaving a lasting impression on the university community.
