Dateline Dehradun: At Swami Rama Himalayan University’s annual sports meet, Rahul Negi of Engineering College and Manya Saxena of Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) bagged gold medals in 100m sprint race. Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal and Dr. Vijendra Chauhan jointly honored the winning players by giving them awards.
The annual sports competition organized in SRHU ended on an exciting note. Continuing their excellent performance in 200m race as well, Rahul Negi and Manya Saxena won their gold medals respectively.
In the 400m relay race, Rahul Negi, Rameshwar, Rudraksh and Deepesh of Engineering College HSST, while in the girls category, Sumoli Gunasola, Sumoli Negi, Monica Gwadi, Priyanka Rawat of Himalayan College of Nursing won medals. Rahul Negi, Simranjeet Kaur won gold medals in long jump. Abhishek Sharma, Simranjeet Kaur won in shot put, while Shantanu and Simranjeet Kaur won in discus throw. In badminton singles and boys category, Sejal Singh and Sumit, in doubles the pair of Sumit and Rishabh, Sejal and Sanskriti, Ananya Tripathi and Naman Arya won medals.
Apart from this, Nishtha Singh, Gauri Bhatia, Chirag Pratap, Ansh Kapoor won gold medals in different categories of table tennis. In chess, Rohit Kaintura, Ashi Gupta, Aditya Kaintura, Saloni Krishali, Mohammad Moin, Mohammad Aleem, Yashika Gupta, Pragya Badoni won the gold medal by securing the first position.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal and Dr. Vijendra Chauhan honored all the winning players by giving them awards. Dr. Dobhal said that sports are very important in life. They teach us team spirit and discipline. During this, Director of Students Affairs and Welfare, Dr. Vineet Mehrotra, Krishnanand Uniyal and all the faculty members were present.
