Pre and Post-Wedding shoots are the latest ‘must-do’ when you decide to get hitched. With social sites like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook giving you that perfect platform to share charming pictures of you and your beloved, there is no stopping the newly going-to-be weds, who would go to any length, to make sure their wedding-album is an envy to most.

The new trend is catching up in the hill-state of Uttarakhand too and its no surprising then that the hill-state has its first one-stop shop to cater to your needs. Rajabajafilms.com started by 25 year old Raja Raturi six months ago ventured into wedding pre-shoot videos and stills. But this shoot comes with a unique twist to it. The wedding shoots are not just in picturesque locations in designer wear but one which has a tinge of tradition attached to it it.

Speaking to Newspost, Raja tells us, “for the past 2-3 years i have been trying my bit to keep alive our Garhwali tradition especially amongst the youth who are completely unaware of our rich culture and tradition. Am trying to involve those youth whose families  set up  roots elsewhere, so that they too get a feel of what being a Garhwali/Kumaoni means.”

So how does Raja do just that. His  dedicated team of 7-8 young men began working on how they could customise Garhwali tradition by not only making it presentable but fashionable as well, yet not entirely glossy. With a  BSc. degree in Animation and Graphic Motions under his belt Raja went about his mission of bringing young men and women closer to their roots by showcasing Uttarakhand’s rich culture, tradition, attire, jewellery and customs in his shoots. And keeping all this in mind, Raja began traditional pre and post wedding shoots. “The response in the past 6 months has been great, we have come across close to 4-5 couple who have preferred traditional shoot along with trendy pre-wedding video and stills,” he tells us.

Like any other entrepreneur, Raja and his team had their set of teething troubles as well which they, with time and experience have overcome.  “It was as an uphill task to convince young couples to get their photo-shoots done in our traditional jewellery, costumes and locations but once they saw the end result, they were happy doing it.

Equipped with Canon –1dx MAC 2 and SLR Panasonic-GH5, these professionally done shoots can carry on for a week or month long depending on the location and the clients need. “Pre-wedding video with stills can start from anywhere between 35,000/-to a lakh all depending on the wedding trousseau, location, shoot time and the clients need.”

So for those who still haven’t made up their mind as to what different they want this marriage season from their marriage photographer, then its not too late, Raja Raturi and his team will make sure that you and your special one are gifted a lifetime of memories steeped in tradition.
